Tottenham Court Road Station Upgrade
Rorcon were selected in an open tender process to provide Vinci Bam Nuttall (VBN) with underground expertise for the major station upgrade at Tottenham Court Road in central London.
The project included an enlarged station ticket hall, providing three new entrances with increased capacity, and installing additional escalators and new lifts for step-free access to all platforms. In addition, it included construction of the structural shell and core for the facilities required to integrate the new Elizabeth line station with the London Underground network. The project was completed in 2016 with very Some interesting takeaways- pushing towards a greener climate:
- Over 95 per cent of the material from the buildings being taken down will be recycled.
- All glass and metal will be used again
- Masonry will be broken up and used as building material on site.
- This has provided major environmental benefits – including dramatically reducing waste sent to landfill and the number of HGV’s taking material away.
