Stratford City Bridges – Tunnelling Works

As part of the requirement for the 2012 Olympic Games, major development works were undertaken at Stratford City, East London to improve infrastructure in and around the new Olympic park. Morgan Sindall were awarded a section of deep drainage works as part of a package on the “Stratford City Bridges”. Rorcon were appointed as their specialist Subcontractor for the deep drainage works. The scheme consisted of the construction of 6 No. PC Segmental Shafts constructed as caissons, ranging is size from 6m ID to 4.5m ID. The drainage lines were installed using micro tunnelling techniques utilising Iseki Microtunnelling equipment.
