Crossrail C300/410 Western Running Tunnels- BFK

Rorcon Limited was selected by Bam Ferrovial Kier JV (BFK) to provide specialist labour for their second major Crossrail scheme.

The company worked with BFK on many sections of this contract, which involved significant underground excavation work at Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street, as well as the major emergency underground crossover cavern beneath the streets of Holborn in London. The works were completed punctually, and the quality of labour supplied by Rorcon was deemed "First Class."

Crossrail is one of the largest transport infrastructure projects in Europe to date, which will increase central London capacity by 10% and cut journey times across the city, transforming rail transport.

The line will appear as the colour purple on the tube map and will be named the Elizabeth line after HM the Queen.

This program will support the equivalent of 55,000 full-time jobs and stimulate regeneration and economic growth.

During the Crossrail project, the C300 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) crossed with 850mm clearance from the top of the London Underground Northern line platform tunnel and 520mm below the overlying escalator barrel, without disrupting LU services.

This is an impressive engineering feat, and the TBM-driven tunnel (part of C300) was used as a pilot tunnel for C410 station tunnels at Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road, which achieved a seven-month program saving.

Rorcon takes great pride in being involved in such a prestigious project undertaken with precision.
