Box Jack Pedestrian Underpass Ingatestone. Murphy’s

Rorcon Limited provided J Murphy & Sons with specialist labour to excavate and install a pedestrian underpass at Ingatestone under a live Great Eastern Main Line London to Chelmsford Railway.

The project involved constructing a box with dimensions of 3.0m x 3.0m and 26m in length. The box was cast in one piece and then excavated and installed below the railway. The underpass was successfully installed using “Box Jacking” techniques, which involved pushing the box forward with hydraulic jacks while excavating behind it. This process was carried out 24/7 under a live railway, with no interruption to the service.

Rorcon Limited provided a team of experienced and qualified personnel who worked tirelessly to ensure the successful completion of the project.

The team worked efficiently and effectively under challenging conditions to deliver the project on time and to the highest standard.
